The good thing about Other Sides is that it is edited with a caring touch. Ms. Harte obviously loves the whole diapason of speculative fiction in all its tones, and has done her best to include as fair a representation as possible. The bad thing? The bad thing is that it’s only one volume and the stories are all quite short. There are at least a half dozen stories in the collection that many readers will wish were longer. Some seem as though they are sample chapters of a larger novel. Others simply evoke such an interesting universe that one may wish the author had even more time to explore it.
Still, that’s far from a criticism. This is a fine collection of webfiction. And the price is right.
