Losing my spark, to get it back again

My spark
It was what was vital to me
I ignored the feeling
Of it slipping away
For a long time

My spark
I felt it slip away
I felt it effect my skin

Yet your pride
Anchored me

Your pride
Slipped into the little things
I did

I started to remember
Who I was
And who I had forgotten to be

It’s a true gift to be
To just have my old spark back

It is as though
You brought back the sun
While others
Had let me be in the shadows

As if I had to accept
The story of shadows
Expected of me
I refuse

I lost that fire in me
Just to light up the paths
Of other people
To light up their names
It’s time to take it back
The spark the me
The aliveness in my bones
For me

I changed
And when you hung
And framed my certificates
Something inside me changed

Healing isn’t linear
And I know you want me
To have my spark back

One day
I will get back what was lost

I will get back the sun
And the smile
In my bones
After being casted in the shadows
For someone else’s light to shine
