Adventures in Thrift Shopping: A petite girl wears a maxi skirt

Summer has finally arrived in the Pacific Northwest! I pulled out all my summer clothes and realized I was due for a supplement, so I hit my favorite thrift stores last weekend. Not that I ever play it safe, but I thought I’d go all out on this outfit post. Bohemian chic all the way! Total outfit cost: $38.97

[media-credit id=10 align=”aligncenter” width=”560″]bohemian chic style post[/media-credit]I found this brightly colored, multi-print cotton maxi skirt at Value Village for $7.99 including the cool wide brown leather belt. The top is actually a dress I picked up at Goodwill for $5.99 with eyelet details. I tucked it into the skirt to wear it as a top. I got the idea watching the Rachael Ray show last week while running on the treadmill. Rachael Ray’s fashion stylist suggested that you could get more mileage out of your items using them in unexpected ways. Except for the extra bulk, it was a pretty good idea.

They’re not only in perfect condition, they’re current! I saw them in Target last week for $29.99. Someone must have gotten a gift they didn’t like or  they were the wrong size.

The necklace is a lovely vintage piece I picked up at the Kippy Ding Ding’s inaugural sale for only $15.00. Check out the Kippy’s Facebook page so you can follow their travels in the mobile vintage unit.
