Free Thing of the Week: Doctor Popular, Quarantined Beats (and Inside Voices)

Since we know this quarantine life has gotten to everyone who isn’t a filthy rich inhumane billionaire, we thought we’d drop some music on you to improve the status quo.

San Francisco’s Doctor Popular has been putting out funkwirky [sic] chip-hop tunes for awhile now. And since everyone’s been inside playing video games, chiptune seems a logical soundtrack.

Unlike his other albums, though, Quarantined Beats (and Inside Voices) is rife with guest vocalists and a level of production even higher than the Doc’s usual output. Recorded all in the month of May 2020 and finished the day before George Floyd’s murder, it’s a great snapshot of that wonderful America in which the most important thing was finding toilet paper. Plus, he has cool music videos.

If you’re a cheapskate, download Quarantined Beats (and Inside Voices) from The Star for free here.

But we encourage you to go give the guy some chips by purchasing Quarantined Beats (and Inside Voices) from Bandcamp here, too.
